What does Osteopathic Treatment Involve?
For many of our new patients, visiting an osteopath is an unfamiliar experience. We aim to make your treatment journey as smooth and enjoyable as possible while ensuring you are comfortable with every aspect of your treatment. Your treatment can be divided neatly into three phases:
PHASE 1
At the start of your first consultation, we’ll ask a number of questions to understand how your pain or discomfort is affecting you. We’ll then conduct a visual examination and provide you with an initial diagnosis.
PHASE 2
After your initial diagnosis, we will identify the best treatment approach for you. We’ll start treatment during your first consultation. We will tailor your treatment plan based on the nature of the underlying conditions contributing to your pain. Our osteopaths use a range of techniques to treat each patient including massage, stretching, manipulation and many gentle techniques. We always ensure patients are comfortable before using each treatment technique.
PHASE 3
Our goal is to achieve long-lasting pain relief and condition management for each patient. To that end, the majority of patients respond significantly to treatment after 3-5 sessions and are discharged. However, after completing your treatment plan, you may still find you benefit from occasional ongoing osteopathic treatment.
Why Choose Us as Your Osteopath Taringa?
Our osteopath treatment centre operates a little differently from other osteopath clinics. That’s because we use a unique, custom system of diagnosis and treatment called the Osteo Diagnostic Platform (ODP). Dr Joachim Enevoldsen developed this platform after years of research and careful observation. We employ it with each patient to help us better identify and treat a wide range of chronic and acute conditions.
What is ODP and How does it Work?
Using ODP allows us to assess the functioning of your body as a whole, looking past the initial site of your pain to any deeper problems. For example, neck and back pain from poor posture can cause migraines or headaches. Similarly, altered biomechanics in the pelvis can cause lower back pain. Our diagnostic platform emphasises the degree to which problems within your neck and pelvic region can lead to pain and discomfort in other parts of your body. The platform is designed to offer a more accurate diagnosis. This then enables us to treat the root cause of your problem.
We’ve used this system at Brisbane West Osteopathy near Taringa since 2008, to create better long term health outcomes for patients. That’s because we believe it’s far better to treat underlying issues rather than simply apply band-aid solutions.
